HAND HELD READING & PROGRAMMING UNIT FOR HMS 9000 - MICROTERM 4800


Connectable on the S3 outpout of HMS 9000. This device allows to communicate with the HMS 9000 probe. The user has instantaneous reading of the volumic humidity (soil water content), the dielectric permittivity, the soil temperature, calibration parameters of soil, calibration parameters of the probe, battery voltage, etc....

WARNING : The MICROTERM 4800 has no memory : it is a reading and programming interface. All parameters are recorded in the HMS 9000 probe. All parameters put into HMS 9000 thanks to the MICROTERM 4800 will remain recorded in the HMS 9000 probe after disconnecting the MICROTERM 4800.

MICROTERM 4800 can be used in two different ways :

  • As a simple device to control HMS 9000 functioning in field, when these probes are connected on a datalogger. In this case all HMS 9000 probes are supplied by the datalogger (electrically) and don't use the MICROTERM battery.


  • As a reading interface of soil moisture values. One MICROTERM can be plugged (successively) on several HMS9000 probes.



WARNING : in all cases, it is crucial to dispose of a MICROTERM 4800 because it is the only device wich allows to change soil calibration parameters or to check if the HMS 9000 is correctly working when installed in the field.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Power supply : Alkaline battery PP3 type (9 Volts) or rechargeable batteries.

Alkaline battery : MICROTERM 4800 device is delivered with alkaline battery (9 Volts) replacable by the user. The electrical autonomy in continue discharge in this case is about 1h30 maxi. Equivalency in normal use is about 15 days for an average daily application.

Rechargeable battery : MICROTERM can be delivered with a rechargeable battery (optional) on simple request when ordering (Warning : in this case, you must also order the electronic battery charger). The electrical autonomy in continue discharge in this case is about 7 hours maxi. Equivalency in normal using is about 2 months for an average daily application. the most advantage of this configuration is that the complete charge of the battery is obtained in only 1 hour !.

Charge current : 300 mA/h.

Number of charge/discharge cycles : about 400
Warning: if MICROTERM 4800 is delivered with rechargeable batteries, it cannot be sold without the electronic battery charger (ref: 3730512).

Battery voltage : read on MICROTERM in Volts.

Display : L.C.D pixel-based display type (2 x 16 characters)

Protection level : not waterproof

Dimensions : 145mm x 80mm x 35mm

Electronic battery charger : the charge is in made in current mode. It is possible to connect the MICROTERM 4800 at any moment without dammage. The battery charger automatically shuts off once the battery (inside the MICROTERM) is fully charged.
